E.L. WIEGAND EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITY CENTER
CLIENT: National Automobile Museum
LOCATION: Reno, NV
The National Automobile Museum unveiled a new interactive experience for children with the grand opening of the E.L. Wiegand Educational Activity Center on June 29, 2024. Spanning 3,000 square feet, the very structure of the Children’s Center is thoughtfully conceived to evoke the design aesthetics found in the world of cars. On top of the digital interactive games, I also designed and art directed themed physical signs and educational panels that featured easy-to-learn introductions to the principles of physics through engaging infographics that are age-appropriate to the gallery's target audience (ages 8-12).

GREEN ZONE: RENO INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY SIGN
Green Zone: I designed the "Reno International Speedway" printed graphic sign as well as provided the color plan for the yellow monitor frames as well as the concept of adding interactive stoplight and truss props to the set design.
BLUE ZONE: JR. ENGINEERING WORKSHOP SIGN
Blue Zone: I designed the "Jr. Engineering Workshop" sign to be fabricated from 1/4" thick dimensional sintra, as well as provided art direction for the large-format infographics found in the play room.
YELLOW ZONE: WALL COLLAGE CONCEPT & RADIO FLYER ART
Yellow Zone: I designed the photo collage layout configuration, selected the photos and photo frames for the left wall and illustrated a stylistic Radio Flyer car decal to fit the built-in circular seating pods for the right wall.
RED ZONE: DIMENSIONAL GRAPHIC PANELS
Red Zone: I designed and illustrated the graphics for the custom-cut sintra dimensional panels for the "EV Charging Station" electronic prop for the Auto Maintenance Play Zone.
GREEN ZONE: EDUCATIONAL SIGNS DESIGN
Green Zone: I designed a family of educational infographic signs that introduce physics principals in easy to digest graphic formats. (The purple & yellow color palette doesn't go with my original color plan, but serves a purpose as it is the brand colors of one of the gallery sponsors.)
BUILD TABLE SIGN DESIGNS
LEGO Table: I also created and art directed the themed educational signs for the LEGO Build Table where kids build their own race cars.
